Returned Sunday from Las Vegas. I have never wanted to go to Vegas and now I know why. The good side of it was the getting together with the cousins. Of course there was the usual “family” stuff going on between brother and sister and brother’s wife. I just kept my mouth shut. LOL
The one thing I have to say, though, was that we had some really good food. A great buffet at Ballagios and a fantastic dinner at the Paris. In the Eiffel tower restaurant. And a super lunch at one of the restaurants at the newly opened Encore.
Did a lot of walking and lost $20 to the slots. People watching was fun too.
Back to chilly Texas but sure better than being further north.
My daughter had a gift certificate from Honey Baked Ham store so we picked one up today and shared a box lunch while there. Tonight will be ham sandwich night and not sure about tomorrow. Maybe ham and scolloped potatoes.
What a game between the Lakers and the Spurs. The Spurs won by one point in the final 10 seconds. Wow
of 2009 is rolling along. I just returned from the Texas Coast to San Antonio to get ready to go to Las Vegas. I do not really want to go but I am playing the “This Will Be an Adventure” game in my head so maybe by Thursday I will be real excited. It is to be a mini reunion with two of my cousins. It more than likely will be the last time we will get together so must keep that in mind.
Christmas and New Years were very quiet affairs. There were several cold days and some foggy days which is fine but I was not able to do the fishing trip with my granddaughter. We rescheduled that for summer and I am sure we will have a much better time.
Time to get busy and take care of some farm paperwork and plan dinner.
It was about 45 degrees this morning. Hopefully will warm up before I make a grocery store run! I just don’t like being cold period!
The train is flying down the track, darkness surrounds it. This down hill run culminates on December 21st, shortest day/longest night. Just like life only the hills and valleys of life aren’t so evenly spaced. . But the ride, ah, the ride. There in lies the tale.
Need to finish up Christmas things but, as usual, procrastination has set in along with allergies. Must be some connection there.
Did make a trip to the deer blind with SIL and had a nice time. Not a blind but a condo. LOL Only saw a spike and it did not jump the fence to “our” side so the deer were very safe.
Going to get out a little bit late this afternoon for some shopping. Hopefully it won’t be a set back for the allergies.
Returned to San Antonio from the coast on Monday and now getting ready to head to the Hill Country for a long weekend. It will be pretty chilly up there and here also but it won’t last and no ice to drive on. At least I hope not!!
Next week will be the holiday with the kids out of school then….not sure of what is next on my agenda. Maybe a chance to catch up with some friends here in San Antonio.
Have started my appointments, with dental first. Need to get an eye appointment scheduled also. Physical sometime in the near future now that I am back where my insurance covers me.
Spent a little time at the coast with the former BF … not sure if that will continue or not. Until I know where I might possibly move may just let that be in the “it is what it is” category.
The uncertain economy sure makes one consider hunkering down for a while and staying put.
Not getting any response from the attorney or real estate agent back in Nebraska. Why does that not surprise me. I just know I am glad to be home in Texas!
Spent most days this week hauling things from a friends barn to the storage shed and so glad that is done and I know they are too!
Will head back to San Antonio sometime Sunday. My friend here has been very, very sick. Her hubby is taking her back to the Dr. this a.m. In my opinion that should have been done days ago but guess we all think “well, tomorrow I will be better”. She has company due in next Wed. and know she wants to be all well then. I would like to help her with the work she needs to do but have known her for years and she is like me, wants to do it herself.
So far things are working out in SA. Hope it continues.
Had an email from a friend who is wanting me to come visit her so will plan that in the next week or so.
Still have the fishing trip with granddaughter on the books for over Christmas vacation. Yeah!!
After the stressful time of hauling the trailer and finally getting it in storage down at the coast, I can relax for a while. Also, have my own computer up and running as of this morning and that is a real joy! My daughter’s is old and slow and she wanted this to happen too, so it is a good thing. Have gotten the Quicken up to date and next, need to work on the spread sheets for the farm and estate stuff. My granddaughter has an iBook but find that hard on the eyes and also find using the keyboard difficult. I think if I ever got a laptop for other than quick use on the road would have to connect a mouse and keyboard.
Had fun at the party and the scooter rides the weekend I was at the coast. Once again will try to up load a photo.
Made it to San Antonio with a big white box tailgating me. Oh, wait, that is the trailer! LOL Man, I hope I find a place to park it soon. I need to clean the truck up and quit worrying for a few days. Will be off to the coast tomorrow and right now, looks like I will use a storage place down there.
My friend’s party is Friday night and I am looking forward to that. Will try to put together a post about the trip down but don’t hold your breath.
In the process of getting things done in the basement discovered another one of the huge old cast iron pipes that is leaking. I am doing a Gone With the Wind suggestion, I’ll think about it tomorrow. In this case tomorrow is next spring.
Trailer about done. Could get most of it finished up this weekend but plan on going to a tailgate party Saturday evening and stopping in at a friend’s auction Sunday at noon. Then will need to mow one last time.
Well, Baby is gone. I do get attached to vehicles and hate to see them go. This time I really hated it as wished it had been a different person. But, I try to keep my word and he was the first to say, I will be out with cash in hand.
Now, Sweet Momma is it and I really do enjoy driving her. The trip with the trailer will be interesting.
I did a trip from Nebraska to Texas years ago. Was a very young widow and towed a trailer with all I had, including a three and a half year old, a two year old and an eight month old. Of course, they were in the car, not the trailer. Remember driving with one hand and holding a bottle for the little one. Thinking back on that trip, this one should be “no sweat.”
