Just reread some of my past posts and realized I never came back about my ex. He did pass away last month. So fast and unexpected. All the kids made it in and, as you can imagine, a rough go for all.

Once again, if possible, be a patient’s advocate if they cannot do it for themselves. My daughter had been through so much when her in-laws died. In fact, her MIL died the day before her grandmother (my Mom)  did last year and now to lose her Dad so soon.  One just never knows what’s around the corner.

Returned Sunday from Las Vegas. I have never wanted to go to Vegas and now I know why. The good side of it was the getting together with the cousins. Of course there was the usual “family” stuff going on between brother and sister and brother’s wife. I just kept my mouth shut. LOL

The one thing I have to say, though, was that we had some really good food. A great buffet at Ballagios and a fantastic dinner at the Paris. In the Eiffel tower restaurant. And a super lunch at one of the restaurants at the newly opened Encore.

Did a lot of walking and lost $20 to the slots.  People watching was fun too.

Back to chilly Texas but sure better than being further north.

My daughter had a gift certificate from Honey Baked Ham store so we picked one up today and shared a box lunch while there. Tonight will be ham sandwich night and not sure about tomorrow. Maybe ham and scolloped potatoes.

What a game between the Lakers and the Spurs. The Spurs won by one point in the final 10 seconds. Wow

Need to finish up Christmas things but, as usual, procrastination has set in along with allergies. Must be some connection there.

Did make a trip to the deer blind with SIL and had a nice time. Not a blind but a condo. LOL  Only  saw a spike and it did not jump the fence to “our” side so the deer were very safe.

Going to   get out a little bit late this afternoon for some shopping. Hopefully it won’t be a set back for the allergies.

Spent most days this week hauling things from a friends barn to the storage shed and so glad that is done and I know they are too!

Will head back to San Antonio sometime Sunday. My friend here has been very, very sick. Her hubby is taking her back to the Dr. this a.m.  In my opinion that should have been done days ago but guess we all think “well, tomorrow I will be better”.  She has company due in next Wed. and know she wants to be all well then. I would like to help her with the work she needs to do but have known her for years and she is like me, wants to do it herself.

So far things are working out in SA.  Hope it continues.

Had an email from a friend who is wanting me to come visit her so will plan that in the next week or so.

Still have the fishing trip with granddaughter on the books for over Christmas vacation.  Yeah!!

Going out of town for a day and believe this will be the last break I take BHS (before heading south).

Had a visit with the real estate guy and doing a plan B. The folks who would like to buy the house have to sell theirs, the fellow who wants to buy theirs, has to sell his.  Sigh….. So plan B is to see where we are when my departure date is closer. I would like these people to be the ones to get it as she loves the woodwork in this old house and says it would never be painted by her. 

I took a walk yesterday down to where the hospital people had “butchered” the tree line and took all my privacy away and made a decision to at least start some shrubs, even though I won’t be around to enjoy them, hopefully someone will. Stopped by a landscape business in a neighboring town, found some shrubs on sale and a crew available to plant them right then. They followed me home and lo and behold, a done deal.

A few more days boxing things up and then a trip to pick up a trailer. Progress and life going on.

On another blog there was a discussion about cemeteries. I had up loaded a couple of pictures from the one the folks are buried in. In the midwest just slabs of granite, basically. One of the prettier ones here.

Returned late Wed. evening. The final five towns I usually go through evoked a shudder that I listened to so made a right turn on Hwy 24 in Kansas and came back a “new” way for me.

Had a blast in Texas. The wedding reception was a hoot, Karen and I had a great time at the B & B and some time just hanging out, the group at Log Country Cove was super fun also. Hopefully this will jump start me anew to get things finished up here.

My trip to the coast was pretty cool also. Had I not been going to the family gathering at LCC I would have been able to fish in a tournament that I wanted to do for a long time. Oh, well, family first, fishing later!

I am planning a fishing outing with the youngest Granddaughter, hopefully during the Christmas break.

Asked my daughter to email some photos she took but as busy as she is, don’t know if that will happen.

Anyway, will try to upload one of the girls having fun.

The weather people are predicting another rocky day for the central plains. Had lots of rain, hail and tornadoes throughout the area last night. We were lucky here but looks like we will be sweating it out again today.

Had a couple of sick days first of the week. Not the “spinning room” vertigo but the motion sickness off balance kind. The worst it’s been since before gall bladder surgery in ‘05. Yuk!!

Spent the day yesterday setting up the vacation days for my upcoming trip to Texas. Will have one day in Dallas with son and family, then on to San Antonio for a few days. My daughter and I will get some time together when I go to the wedding reception in Hunt, Tx. Have us booked for two nights at a B & B along the Guadalupe River. A few days at the coast. Back to S.A. to prepare for 3 days up at Kingsland, TX with the family from Dallas and daughter’s family from S.A. My daughter had planned to take her children to Disney World but the untimely death of her MIL and Grandmother prevented that from happening. I think we all have the attitude of lets get together when we can and enjoy one another. You never know what is around any corner. 

I am behind on my list of things to get done before I leave on the 21st so best get at it.

Went out to move the truck last night and darn, a flat!  Just hate that. Will get the compressor  out and see whether I can get it pumped up and off to the garage. The compressor needs to be refilled so must remember to throw that in the bed of the truck and get it that done too.

The other “getter done” item is checking out the sprinkler system for the yard. Have had a couple of folks that can’t back up worth a darn run over the  lawn and may have hit a sprinkler head.

Yesterday started to work on some more boxes to fill and put in the closet for auction time. As I walked through the door to the closet, boom, the bottom dropped out of the box. So, today, must go clean that mess up. I just walked out and let it sit. 

Put in my last Wine.com order for Nebraska. Have a really good foam box/carrier set up for what is left to haul back to Texas but who knows, it may be consumed before then! At my Uncle’s BD party one of the cousins brought some wine he had made and it was darn good.

Nail biting time tonight. The Spurs go back for game 5 in New Orleans. Hope they can pull off another two wins and move on.

Certainly a different one as it is the first one without her. I feel fortunate though to reach this age before losing her. 

This is Number 3 son’s birthday. Hopefully I can reach him by phone today. He did get the birthday card I sent.

This morning it appears I must get a new battery for the mower. Could not get it started yesterday. Had it serviced last week and it was suppose to be charged  but ….

Heard from Mom’s other daughter yesterday. She is planning on making a trip to her class reunion in 3 weeks. Said she would get here on Thursday, reunion Friday evening and probably would leave Sat. or Sun. I suppose that is so she won’t be involved in any work. Probably will get her oldest son to help load the bedroom set in her auto. 

The Spurs have made it past the 1st round in the NBA playoffs. Next comes the Hornets. That will be a super tough series. In fact, all of the West is tough.

I finally got my eyes checked and do not have any macular degeneration at this point but have the beginnings of cataracts, which I already knew. Now, on to seeing about the back pain.
